How We Test AI Tools: Our Methodology (2026)
How AIStackComp evaluates AI companion apps, SEO tools and voice generators: pricing verification, feature testing, privacy analysis and conflict of interest policy.
AIStackComp evaluates AI tools on criteria that matter for purchase decisions — no buzzword ratings, no sponsored rankings.
What we test
Pricing
Verified directly from official pricing pages. For promotional or annual-billing prices, both figures are listed. Date always noted in frontmatter. We cross-reference at minimum two independent sources.
Quality / Output
Direct use of tools on paid plans for typical use cases representative of each tool’s target audience.
UX / Interface
Evaluated on learnability, navigation and mobile suitability.
API availability
Verified via official documentation. Tested where possible with a test account and a sample integration.
Privacy and security
Review of Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and any known security incidents. Known breaches are flagged in comparisons.
Pricing transparency
Evaluated on: are all costs visible before purchase? Are token or credit systems clearly explained? Are renewal prices disclosed?
7-dimension framework for head-to-head comparisons
Every H2H comparison uses: price, target audience, quality/output, speed/performance, UX/interface, pricing transparency, API availability. Each dimension receives a direct statement — no vague ratings.
Data sources
Primary: official pricing pages, terms of service, help documentation. Secondary: verified user reports, independent tech reviews. Not used as primary sources: Reddit, anonymous forums, unverified reviews.
Update frequency
Prices: every 60 days or within 72 hours of a confirmed change. Feature comparisons: every 90 days.
Conflicts of interest
AIStackComp has no affiliate relationships with compared tools. We do not accept payment for placement in comparisons or roundups. Sponsored content, if any, is clearly labelled.
